The cheapest town for petrol was Bangor at 163.1p and the dearest was Knutsford at 185.9p. Supermarkets were 4.0p a litre cheaper than other forecourts, and motorway services charged 20.6p more.

Unleaded (E10) averages 173.7p a litre across UK forecourts reporting a current price, as at 22 October 2026. Diesel averages 198.9p.
Is supermarket fuel cheaper?
Yes. Supermarket forecourts average 171p for unleaded against 175p elsewhere, 4p a litre cheaper.
Why are motorway services so expensive?
Motorway forecourts average 193.9p against 173.3p elsewhere. At 90 of 108 service areas an ordinary forecourt within 3 miles is a typical 27p a litre cheaper.
Where do these prices come from?
Every UK filling station must report its prices to the government Fuel Finder scheme within 30 minutes of a change. We read the feed every 30 minutes and leave out any forecourt that has not reported for more than 14 days.
